ELLEN CALLAMARI founder and president of Callamari Fine Art, provides discreet, professional advisory services to individuals and organizations seeking to establish new art collections or enhance existing ones. Clients include established collectors, major national and international corporations as well as individuals new to art collecting. Before launching Callamari Fine Art in 2000, she held senior positions at major New York galleries including the Mary Boone Gallery and the Andrea Rosen Gallery.
As an advisor to the estate of the abstract expressionist Richard Pousette-Dart, Ellen has assisted in the conservation, acquisition, sale and exhibition of his work nationally and internationally. She was a key contributor in the development and creation of the monograph, Richard Pousette-Dart: The New York School and Beyond (Skira, 2005).
Ellen is a long time resident of New York City, is active in the art community and is a supporter of all of the major museums. Ellen's participation in the international artworld takes her to global art fairs and exhibitions that feature the post-war and contemporary work that is her area of specialization. In addition to working with blue chip post-war art, Ellen is also active with young, contemporary art, discovering and developing relationships with exceptionally talented emerging artists. Ellen does not represent any artists or galleries and therefore is well situated to provide objective advice based solely on collectors' needs. Ellen received a B.A. from Rutgers University and an M.A. from the City University of New York, both in art history. She is also certified to provide appraisals that comply with standards as set forth in the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) of The Appraisal Foundation, Inc., in Washington, DC.
